Mrs. Ling, mother of current Hong Kong Davis Cup Captain, Derek Ling, has won seventeen local major Singles titles, nine Ladies' Doubles titles, and ten Mixed Doubles titles. She also has the distinction of being the oldest female local major winner when she captured both the Ladies' Doubles and the Mixed Doubles titles at the 1982 CRC (Chinese Recreation Club) Open at age 41. In addition to holding a number of records locally for a female tennis player, she also won in a number of important tournaments in England, Australia, Singapore and China. She coached the Hong Kong women's team at the World University Games in 1985 and was Captain of the Hong Kong Fed Cup team in the early 1980s.

Ella Zoyara (b.1840-d.1879) was the star trick-rider of the Great World Circus, the first circus to ever come to town in Hong Kong. Six shows were given by the circus from March 27, 1868 before it left for its next destination - Manila. Unbeknown to the circus-goers in Hong Kong, the St. Louis born Zoyara was in fact a man named Omar Kingsley and that he was even married - to a woman named Sallie Stickney. Zoyara's "true" gender was discovered in Manila and as a result both she (he) and the circus master Adolf Gonsalez were thrown into jail.

First Asian Games Medalist for Tennis
Ling Tsui Yuen-Yuen (徐婉圓); 1962 Asian Games in Indonesia; silver medal in the Ladies' Double – partnered with Ranjani Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka.

The First Ferrari Imported to Hong Kong

1960s – the First Ferrari imported to Hong Kong, no specific information on the exact year and who the owner was...
But here is the first order Ferrari received from Hong Kong in October 1959 – a Series II250GT Pinin Farina (3-liter, V-12) – and the buyer was a captain in the US armed force. By the time the car is ready to ship in May 1960, the captain has been reassigned to Japan, and so the car was shipped to Japan and became the first Ferrari to have been imported in the country.
