Ella Zoyara (b.1840-d.1879) was the star trick-rider of the Great World Circus, the first circus to ever come to town in Hong Kong. Six shows were given by the circus from March 27, 1868 before it left for its next destination - Manila. Unbeknown to the circus-goers in Hong Kong, the St. Louis born Zoyara was in fact a man named Omar Kingsley and that he was even married - to a woman named Sallie Stickney. Zoyara's "true" gender was discovered in Manila and as a result both she (he) and the circus master Adolf Gonsalez were thrown into jail.

Police Airport Security Unit (機場特警)
1977, established; responsible for safety and security at the airport. ASU was formed as the answer to increased terror attacks and airplane hijacks took place throughout the world at that time. ASU is the only police unit whose officers bear automatic weapons at all times.

Kai Tak Airport 1925-1998, a Montage
Namesake of Kai Tak Airport
The airport was named after two personages - Ho Kai (何啟) and Au Tak (區德) who together with several other prominent businessmen in Hong Kong formed the Kai Tak Investment Company in 1922 for the purpose to reclaim land in Kowloon for development. Part of the land was acquired by the government for use as an airfield after the business plan failed.
